Description

The protagonist of the story is a dreamer, lonely and shy. One White Night, the dreamer accidentally meets a girl named Nastenka and falls in love with her, while she sees him as a kindred spirit, a brother. Nastenka shares her story with him. She spent her early years living with her blind grandmother, after her parents' death. The grandmother never let Nastenka leave her side for long, pinning her dress to hers with a pin. Nastenka's life was dull and monotonous. But everything changed when a lodger arrived and took pity on the girl. Nastenka fell in love and planned to leave with him, but he was very poor and promised to return in a year. When the deadline passed and he didn't show up, she knew he was in town, yet she waited for him, but he never came and didn't respond to her letters. Thinking he had abandoned her, Nastenka decides to respond to the dreamer's feelings. However, upon unexpectedly meeting her beloved, Nastenka runs away from the dreamer and apologizes for her betrayal in a letter. The protagonist forgives her and continues to love her regardless. Nastenka is the brightest event in his life! And he is just a support in difficult times. His happiness didn't happen, he is alone again.
